Finding $5 in the 30s was like winning the lottery today. Food was available on the farm but you couldn't buy gas.

Ed was home alone with Ma while the other 9 were off to school. "If you want her to live to be 90 get this surgery" and here we are

House fills up with nine kids, Ma, Pa and Gandy - running out of people to ask to be godparents.

Work on the farm and in the house grows as the family expands to include another three children - who helped out around the house while Ma was in the Hospital and how she was running out of names!

Clothes and laundry - hard work on a daily basis. It wasn't a good day when the clothes line broke and she had to wash everything over again.

After graduating from the University of Prince Edward Island I volunteered with CUSO in Nigeria. In the 80s I worked with Oxfam Canada in Halifax as a development educator working across the Maritime region. In 1994 I began to work with CUSO in the Atlantic region and enjoy my current work with Cuso International.
